How to get urine off a carpet

Urine should not be left alone as it creates a breeding ground for bacteria and can attract pets which may urinate again in the same spot.

The liquid urine should be absorbed as completely as possible using white cloths or paper towels. Blotting the area with a white towel soaked in water / clear liquid dishwashing detergent (1 tsp to 125ml) should be effective. A clean towel should be used to soak up the resultant liquid.

Blotting the area with 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, another towel should be used to soak up the remaining fluid before laying uncoloured towels on the damp area and weighting them to allow the area to dry for at least 6 hours.
